advance the ball toward the flag. The image of the shot is then relayed from the mind to the body in order to shape a swing or stroke to achieve the intended shot. And the best results come when the mind and body are synchronized, working together to carry out the actions you imagined for your shot.
Elements of the Golf Swing
There are basically five different phases to your golf swing:
- Set-up or address
- Take-away or backswing
- Downswing
- Hitting-Zone
- Follow-through
Set-up or Address
The address position gives you the optimal base for your
golf swing. If you don’t have good posture you won’t be able to maintain the optimal address position. Poor posture restricts rotation in the hips, shoulders and torso. Good posture is required at the address and then throughout the entire swing.
---“One of the most sacred fundamentals for a good
golf swing is your posture”---
Tiger Woods
Take-away or Backswing
The purpose of your backswing is to create the coil of
elastic energy for release on your downswing. The goal
is to make a nice, long arc with your arms, which puts
you into position for maximum club-head speed.
Downswing
This is the release of your elastic energy that you just created in your backswing. Almost all the major muscles
in your body are used in the downswing.
Hitting-Zone
To hit the ball consistently farther, sufficient power needs
to be generated through the entire swing. Power is the combination of strength and speed that generates fast
club head speed. It is the amount of force that can be generated quickly over a distance. To achieve the explosive speed of the golf swing, optimal rotation is required in the legs, hips, torso and shoulders.
Follow-through
The follow-through continues the path of the body through
the hitting plane and safely slows the tremendous
momentum of the swing. This is where dynamic balance
and coordination are used to protect your lower back. The extreme tort of the golf swing exerts stress on the spinal muscles. A tight muscle is more prone to tear or pull under stress. In the same way, tight muscles pull on the spine
and create back and neck pain. No wonder, approximately 50% of professional and amateur golfers report playing with back pain.

Customized Golf-Conditioning Pilates Program
Out Golf Pilates Program is a new breed of performance training that follows the principles of Pilates combined
with the new technology of swing and video analysis.
This is the only Golf Pilates program you
will ever need!
That’s right I’ve combined the benefits of Pilates with high tech video swing analysis and the P3 ProSwing electronic analyzer by Sports Vision Technologies.
Your Golf Pilates program begins with an 11 point body assessment that teaches you about any postural
imbalances you may have. We first identify the short
or tight muscles that affect your golf swing. From there,
we design a program that addresses your specific needs
to bring balance and coordination back to your golf swing.
Before you start with the fitness program your golf swing
will be video taped and recorded onto a cd so you can actually see what your swing is doing. This will further
enable us to design the right fitness program for you.
And with your swing recorded onto a cd you can easily
work with a golf professional to reach your golfing goals. If you need a golf pro just check out our “Meet the Pros” list.
Your video along with the feedback that is provided by
the P3 ProSwing will enable you to reach your golfing
goals in the shortest possible time.
Your Golf Pilates program will include Pilates Mat and Reformer exercises, foam roller stretching, Bosu Balance Trainer, Free Motion Machine exercises, (as seen on the
Golf Channel) and of course hitting balls off the P3
ProSwing and a commercial grade driving mat.
Each class is limited to only 4 people and will last one
hour. The first half hour will consist of Pilates exercises
and the last half hour will consist of hitting balls. If there
are four people in the class then each person will be hitting balls for approximately 15 minutes and then working on
their
Pre/Post game stretching for the other 15 minutes.
